For more than two years, I have been the editor in charge of managing IAM’s litigation reporter. During recruiting for the role in 2023, I screened candidates’ applications and cover letters, choosing candidates for our short list. I conducted multiple interviews with promising candidates, and scored their performance on writing tests. I hired my preferred candidate, in consultation with other senior editors. I was responsible for training the reporter to cover US patent litigation and learn to report on patent court data for a weekly column. We meet twice weekly to discuss story ideas, handle administrative tasks or address any issues. I edit all her articles and have operated her annual review for three years now.
